In no particular order, here’s a list of our Top apps for content creators. (Updated July, 2023)
There are different types of content creators, needs and platforms, but one thing is certain: there’s video, audio, photo editing and copywriting involved. These apps below meet those needs and will make your work online extremely easy and take your productivity up a notch. We use everything on this list.
Apps for Content Creators in 2023
1. InShot App: for video editing
InShot is a mobile photo and video editing app for iOS and Android that has just about everything – transitions, background music, filters, effects and all so put together nicely that you would actually love to use it. It’s easy to use, even if you’re an absolute newbie. I have it on both my android and iPhone and have never once regretted paying the full version, which is less than a day’s meal. The app is so good it’s number one on my top apps for content creators list.
Check this great review about the inShot app.
2. Buffer: for scheduling social media
I honestly don’t know what I’d do without Buffer. The average content creator most likely has more than one social media account – Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest and who knows what else would be released? How do you manage all these, keep your followers satisfied and still have a regular offline life?
That’s where buffer comes in. Quite simply put, buffer lets you schedule your social media posts and publish them automatically. There is a free plan – that allows 10 posts only, but the essentials plan is $5/month/social. It’s one of the top apps for content creators, and you should try it!
3. Invoice Apps: For sending pro invoices
Content creators make money – or at least they try to. Nothing screams ‘amateur’ as sending a typed bill on WhatsApp/iMessage for a potential client. That’s the job of invoice apps.
For iPhone users, I recommend SWIFT INVOICE
Swift invoice is the professional app available to create great-looking, invoices (Estimates, Purchase Orders, Credit Memos). Tracking sales, goods, time in your phone. You can read more about it here.
For Android users, I’d recommend INVOICE SIMPLE.
4. Payoneer: For receiving international payments
Yes, we talked about invoices and such, but how is this a list of top apps for content creators if we don’t talk about how you can receive money?
You’ll agree with me that once you’ve done the video edit with INSHOT app, see #1, written the invoice using any of the tools in #3, then definitely you need a way to get paid. That’s where, if you are dealing with clients abroad, I’d recommend Payoneer.
Payoneer is a financial business platform that provides online money transfer and payment services. It does exactly what Paypal does but without the hassle of Paypal, and thus anyone can receive US Dollars with Payoneer.
How does it work?
Payoneer allocates a virtual US account number to their subscribers which contain your checking number and routing number. Those would be the detail you need whenever you want to receive payments into a US bank account.
Click to set up your payoneer account and learn how to receive US Dollars with Payoneer as a content creator.
5. Google Keep: for note keeping
Content creators have different niches, and writing is a core part. That’s where Google Keep shows up.
With Google Keep, you can create and edit lists, drawings, notes that contain photos, and set up reminders for specific Notes so you don’t lose track of them. On your computer, you can convert your Keep Notes to Google Docs to work with them even further, or add collaborators to share Notes with. On a mobile device, Google Keep notes can even be shared by SMS with your contacts for even easier distribution!
Keep is available for all devices and honestly… is top draw.
6. Canva: For social media, print graphics and quick flyers
This time last year I wasn’t a fan of this graphic app. But so much can change in 12 months, one of which is the fact that Canva is definitely on my list of top apps for content creators. You can use Canva either by downloading the mobile app or via its web format. Don’t get me wrong, if you run a business and need trademarked graphics like logos, custom designs, etc – then Canva is not a good idea because you don’t own it. But for not so important social media art and print graphics that don’t suck, then by all means, have at it.
We love it here at Pishon and never miss a pro payment.
7. ChatGPT: For written content, captions, etc
It’s 2023, and CHATGPT is the rave of the moment. Not just it, but AI in general. ChatGPT is an AI chatbot that uses natural language processing to create humanlike conversational dialogue. The language model can respond to questions and compose various written content, including articles, social media posts, essays, code and emails.
I personally use it for EVERYTHING I can. Draft courses, send emails, plan a content calendar and even structure. It is genuinely something I didn’t think I would need but now can’t do without. Wouldn’t really put it in ‘apps for content creators’ list, more like ‘life savers for content creators’.
8. VSCO: for photo editing
I could have chosen Lightroom, Photoshop or some other fancy name, but that is for professionals that know what they are doing.
As we know, content creators create content and move on. Compared to other apps, VSCO gives users access to more advanced photo editing tools and filters. This is attractive to users who want to enhance their pictures, and use the app’s features to express their visual creativity. VSCO membership costs $19.99/year and comes with a free 7-day trial. You can also use the app for free, but the functionality will be limited to some basic filters, editing tools like Contrast and Saturation, and browsing community content.
Hope these apps for content creators help you create more – and better.
