Top 4 Nigerian Web Hosting Companies (In 2019)

This is a post detailing the Top 4 Nigerian web hosting companies.

First, what is web hosting?

A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to make their website accessible via the World Wide Web. — Wikipedia

There are free web hosts, as well as paid ones, the free ones are blogger.com and wordpress.com which allows you to start a blog just like that without paying anything.

Why use Nigerian web hosting companies?

Because most Nigerians are uncomfortable with paying in dollars no thanks to our exchange rate. But we prefer it.

Another advantage to using Nigerian web hosting companies is that they are cheaper and most offer .ng domains.

If you are planning to host a large website, like an online store, or something that requires a ton of traffic, note that none of these top 4 Nigerian web hosting companies may be able to deliver what you need so go international. Even Jumia and Konga are hosted outside Nigeria.

Top Nigerian Web Hosting Companies

1. WhoGoHost

The name was funny when I heard it – creative and innovative. It sounded to me like pidgin, where you’d say, who go host this my site na?

Nigerian Web Hosting Company - Whogohost

Lol. I once had to redesign a website where hosting had already been purchased and I couldn’t change the host. That was when I came in contact with whogohost and boy, was I pleasantly surprised. The design was mature, they even offer purchase of .ng services, reseller hosting, cpanel access, and so on. Haba, this is nice, I thought. Lol.

I did a random search for a domain to test. See screenshot below:

You can transfer a site without stress, even their customer service ‘make sense’. The hosting is cheap, with their most expensive being 21k yearly, which isn’t all that bad.

Check them out at www.whogohost.com.

2. Web4Africa

Web4Africa are quite popular…but in my opinion, annoyingly expensive. And the site was just, you know, there.

A simple search for a domain name brought it at N4800. Most international web hosting companies offer domain names for free when you buy the hosting.

They offers monthly subscription packages ranging from 8,000 to 30,000 Naira per year. The cheapest plan offers 50GB bandwidth with 5GB disk space, while the highest plan promises unlimited bandwidth and unlimited disk space.

3. SmartWeb NG

At first glance, I really didn’t like this website. Poor design says so much about the services a company offers. I’m putting it on my list of Nigerian Web Hosting Companies to consider simply because it’s popular, people know of it and I hear they’ve been around since 2004.

Monthly traffic limit ranges between 30GB to unlimited traffic, again depending on the hosting plan you choose with price ranging from 3,000 to 50,000 Naira yearly, while domains are N4200.

4. Registeram

An innovative name, if you speak pidgin.

Registeram is one of the top 4 web hosting companies in Nigeria, and they are new. Their Linux web hosting costs between 11,500 and 75,000 Naira per year. (Way expensive if you ask me…)

Registaram offers 5GB to 30GB storage space depending on your subscription package. Monthly traffic limit ranges between 25GB and 90GB traffic also depending on your web hosting plan. You can pay online with your debit card or pay Naira bank deposit.

Check them on registeram.com

Concluding, I’m sure there are more hosting companies in Nigeria but these top 4 have loads of Nigerian customers who manage them.
