Post Updated November 2020!
There are many ways you can increase your blog traffic, and in today’s post, we’re going to look at 5 of them. Let’s get started!
To become a successful blogger, quit your boring day job and be financially independent, you need traffic. To increase sales for your e-commerce store or startup, you need traffic. To build a personal brand that gives you reliable income on a consistent basis, you need traffic.
Web traffic is the number of people who visited your blog and read its pages.
1. Paid Advertising
Paid advertising is any kind of advertising that you have to pay for, versus owned or earned advertising. With paid advertising, marketers pay the owner of ad space in exchange for use of that space. The price paid for the ad space is often settled through a bidding process between marketers and the ad space owner.
Do you know that paid advertising also requires a certain skill? Yeouch. Especially if your interest is sales which you will get when you increase your blog traffic. It’s not just enough to run an ad and fold your arms, you’ve got to perfect it using strategic keywords and everything else — but that one is for another post. Suffice it to say that you need traffic?? Then do ADS. Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Google Ads. They all count!
2. Backlinks
Backlinks are the most powerful search engine ranking factor.
Backlinks are incoming links to a webpage. When a webpage links to any other page, it’s called abacklink. In the past, backlinks were the major metric for the ranking of a webpage. A page with a lot of backlinks tended to rank higher on all major search engines, including Google.
When a link from a page on a particular website is passed to another page on another website, search engines see it as a vote. Bloggers love to link to each other. It may be difficult — depending on how popular they are — getting them to link to you, but you never know! Just reach out. A few blogs have reached out to use to link to them and we have (shameless plug: it’s one of the services we offer) and it’s very very rewarding when you get endorsed that way.
3. Social Media promotion will definitely increase your blog traffic!
Of course you saw this one coming. It’s not enough to produce great content and hope that people find it – you have to be proactive. One of the best ways to increase traffic to your website is to use social media channels to promote your content.
Don’t forget to modify the content based on the sharing platform and have a sharing schedule.
Do your research and learn how to optimize your posts for the other social media platforms as well, so you can get a higher amount of shares, engagement, and traffic.

4. Write Great Headlines
I know, I know. “Clickbait” is a bit of a dirty word. We are living in the time of “fake news.” No one wants to be swindled or tricked into clicking on something that ends up being snake oil.
A good headline that draws readers in and encourage them to click through should be followed up by quality, truthful content. The headline may have baited you, sure. However, the product and the copy backed it up.
If you want to increase your blog traffic, forget all about the clickbait debate and let that headline rip!

OMG FACT: The writers at BuzzFeed and Upworthy often write upward of twenty different headlines before finally settling on the one that will drive the most traffic, so think carefully about your headline before you hit “publish.”
5. Guestposting and Republishing to increase your blog traffic
You need to get your content in front of new audiences. Guest posting helps improve your SEO rank, and it also introduces your content to new audiences.
Another way is to get your content republished on large publications. This is ideal because you won’t have to spend hours writing tons of guest posts every month – and you can also get the link juice from large publications with high rankings.
Find large publications in your industry that republish content.
Large publications have huge content needs. So, if they allow republishing, and you have good, relevant content, then you’ve got a good shot.
Give these tips a try, and good luck as you try to increase your blog traffic!
